August 15th

Emma Claire and I had an impromptu sleepover at my mom's house last weekend. Fortunately my mom was a good sport about her last minute visitors! I am going to try and legally change Emma's name to Sassy. Sassy Claire Giles. Our daughter loves to test her boundaries and she has been doing more and more of it lately. Last Friday Sassy declared that she was "Super Emma". I couldn't believe my luck. I have had a cape and crown in our closet forever that I bought at a cute toy store, but Emma was too young for it at the time. In one of the few moments when I felt like a fully prepared mom, I showed her the cape and crown and she loved them :-)

Sassy loves her new daycare room so far. Every day I've had to wait for a while once I get there since she's not ready to go home. She typically has on some sort of dress up outfit and is dancing around, playing with her friends or reading a book. I finally tell her I'm going home and then she will reluctantly change back into her regular clothes.

We stopped by Target on our way home (our favorite store) to check out their toys. They had the perfect set of dress up princess slippers and I was sure that Emma was going to ask for them, but she didn't seem that interested. I was very surprised. Of course later in the evening she asked for them and wanted to go back to Target to buy them (she even brought me her piggy bank so she could see if she had enough money). You would have thought the world was coming to an end because she didn't have the complete set of princess dress up shoes. She went to bed holding her plain dress up shoes and told me she was going to dream about the shoes at Target. I really love Sassy Claire Giles and her fun personality :-)
