August 26th

Well, we will officially have a ballerina in the Giles family one week from Saturday. I signed up Emma for an introductory dance class this afternoon. The class will do ballet for the first 30 minutes of the session and then they will do tap dance for the last 15 minutes. I cannot imagine how much patience a dance teacher must have to lead toddlers through 45 minutes of dance instruction. I think Emma is more excited about her ballet clothes than the actual class :-) She is modeling her new outfit in the first couple of pictures below. She wanted to wear her tights and leotard to bed and then she tried to tell me she's going to wear them to daycare tomorrow. Fortunately Chris will handle that issue in the morning since I will be at work by the time she is getting dressed for the day. Good luck Christopher :-)

The last 2 pictures are from a craft project and I can't decide if it's cool or creepy. I asked Chris to saw Emma's dog into 2 pieces and he gave me quite a quizzical look. I have to admit it was a little odd to be holding the dog while Chris sawed him in half. Anyway, I made a little picture frame out of the dog. I wasn't sure how Emma would react to it. Of course she tried to pick up the dog by its head and it quickly was dislocated from the other piece. Emma looked at the dog's head in her hand and then looked at the back end laying on the counter and then she giggled. I was thinking I could get a bunch of different kinds of animals and we could have a whole barnyard collection of picture frames. Christopher rolled his eyes at this idea so I'm guessing he's not on board with it. I think the dog looks happy with his new purpose :-)
