August 13th - Huntington Gardens

Emma and I went on a school field trip today to Huntington Gardens, which is one of Pasadena's hidden treasures. They have a section of the gardens for children that I never knew about. I picked her up at daycare at 11:45; there were probably 6 or 7 of her classmates that went. Each parent was responsible for driving their child there and back and chaperoning them at the gardens.

Emma had a lot of fun, as you can see. There were fountains, tunnels, rocks to climb on and plenty of beautiful foliage. After spending some time in the children's section, we walked through the Chinese Garden, then the Japanese Garden and back through to the main entrance. She did great for the first hour or so, but by 1:00, which is normally the start of her nap time, she was starting to get tired and cranky! (but I couldn't blame her!)

Shari and I have only been to The Huntington once since we've been in California. Going today made me remember what a wonderful place it is and how we should really be spending more time there to take advantage of the natural beauty. It's something we will definitely add to our list of things to do more often!
