July 19th - Emma turns two!

Emma Claire turned 2 this past Sunday. Unfortunately she was very sick prior to her birthday party so we had to cancel it. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement because I know she would have loved it, however, I am truly thankful that she is feeling better and that is the most important thing.

She is changing so much these days and we couldn't be more proud of her. She is saying more words, has an increased understanding of what we are saying and of course her smile lights up a room :-)

Instead of a Hello Kitty themed birthday party, we settled for a party of 3 at home on her special day. Emma was really getting into opening presents once she realized that inside was something neat and it was for her. Chris assembled a couple of her presents. I looked at the directions and could not even begin to comprehend them so Emma is extra lucky to have such a handy dad. Our friend Kelley risked the contagious germs and came over with a couple of cute gifts too. My mom gave Emma the really neat table and chair set that you see below. I realized how fast my little girl is growing up when I saw her playing at the table with her tea set, books and doll. I can hardly believe that 2 years ago today I was laying in my hospital bed with this tiny bundle in my arms and feeling an overwhelming amount of love for her even though we had just met. We can hardly wait to see what the future holds for her.

Happy birthday to Emma! My kids always seem to get sick on their birthdays, too. It looks like she still had a very special celebration. She really is growing up!
