Today we took her to Descano Gardens, which is in La Canada Flintridge, on the other side of the Rose Bowl. I've ridden my bike up to the Gardens, but have never been in. This was the perfect time of year to go. There were so many beautiful flowers in bloom. Emma was content to sit in her stroller while we walked around and looked at all of the flowers, plants and trees. Shari had read about an animal farm for young children that they were having this weekend. When they finally opened it, they had a few goats, some rabbits, a donkey and a few other animals in a small pen, but there were too many people, so it was a bit of a disappointment. The Gardens were definitely worth it, though.
Emma surprised both of us this weekend when she actually ate her jar food, both days. Her caregivers, Cindy and Rosie, at Pasadena Day Nursery, have been working diligently with her on this, and it has definitely paid off!
She also surprised me last week when I walked into her room one morning to find her little head poking up in her crib. She is now able to turn over on her stomach once she wakes up, and will prop herself up on her arms and peek out of the crib. It's really cute! I need to try to get a picture of it.
Other than that, Emma continues to be very active. She doesn't like to sit still at all, which reminds me a lot of someone I know... She will grab for anything and everything that is within (or close to within) her reach. She is also working hard on learning to crawl, although she's not quite there yet. I guess we'll enjoy the fact that she can't crawl yet while we can; we'll be chasing her around soon enough...
If you look close enough, you can see her little white tooth in one of the pictures. We've also included a video of her playing in her jumperoo, which she absolutely loves!
