We were very fortunate to be able to go to Hawaii this summer. We visited Kauai this past week and it was so beautiful plus we had some pretty fun adventures on the island. We spent most of last Sunday traveling (5.5 hour plane ride plus an additional 40 minute plane ride and a 3 hour time difference). My painful lesson from that day is to always check my boarding pass prior to the day of departure from now on. My ticket was issued to "Shari Holland" which definitely does not match my license as TSA pointed out to me at 6am. We finally made it to the condo we had rented and it was in a beautiful location.
On Monday we drove up the West side of the island to Waimea Canyon and it was very pretty. We ended our day swimming in the ocean and we were soon joined by 2 playful seals!
On Tuesday we went mountain tubing through an old sugar cane plantation. The irrigation ditches have been re-purposed for tubing and it was a lot of fun to float through the water and a series of tunnels (at one point we all turned our lights off and you couldn't see a thing!). Our vacation was definitely off to a great start :-)
