Emma and I have had an interesting day.  Last night the wind started to pick up and it eventually became extremely strong (the news reported gusts up to 80 mph).  I kept telling myself our house would not blow away as I tried to sleep and then I started figuring out what I would do with Emma and our cat if we had to evacuate.  I had never experienced a wind storm like that and I wasn't sure what we would find this morning when the sun finally came out.  I got a phone call pretty early today and Emma's daycare sustained quite a bit of damage and they said the center would not be open.  I looked out our windows and saw a few large tree limbs laying in the street.  I was not prepared for what we would find as we ventured out further.  Pasadena was hit really hard by the wind and there are numerous trees completely uprooted and laying in the streets, there are roofs that have collapsed and there is debris everywhere.  I received another phone call this afternoon and Emma's daycare is closed tomorrow as well (the surrounding schools are also closed) due to power lines being down and extensive tree damage.  Of course this is all a novelty for Emma and she doesn't comprehend what has happened.  I am very thankful we have not had any damage to our home.

Wow, that is some serious damage. Thank goodness you did not need to evacuate and that your home was not damaged. Glad everyone in your family is ok.
