September 10th

I have been counting my blessings this week. I reported for jury duty on Tuesday in downtown LA and at the last minute I was assigned to a panel on a case that is expected to last for 2 to 3 weeks. I'm sure you can imagine my excitement. I can't go into detail on the case yet, but let's just say that the trial and having to walk through the somewhat rough downtown environment for the past 4 days has been a constant reminder of all the wonderful things I have in my life. I am truly grateful for our nice home and cars, a great husband who works hard daily to help provide for us and a sweet and sassy little girl who told me I'm her best friend this morning (I know that won't last, but I will take it as long as I can).

Emma and I spent a nice morning at the park today. I read an article last night about parenting and it reminded me to be patient as I'm dealing with a 4 year old who doesn't grasp the concept of time or major responsibilities yet. So, this morning I pretty much let her just lead the way and I followed along. Well, it lasted until about 10am when she was faced with 2 bathroom stalls and she couldn't decide which one to use :-)

We are having a nice and quiet weekend which is perfect. Jury duty will still be waiting there for me on Monday as well as the trek from parking downtown and then the hike to the court house. For now, I will go back to counting my blessings because I have so many of them and for that I am truly grateful.

Jury duty - yuck, poor you! I certainly don't envy you on that. But it is true, most of us are very, very fortunate. I hope the trial goes by quickly and isn't too emotional for you.
