Fourth of July

Our good friend Kristie, from Dallas, flew out for a visit over the Fourth of July weekend. She normally visits over Memorial Day weekend but this year Shari and Emma were in Oklahoma for a family wedding.

On the Fourth, following our yearly tradition, we drove down to Dana Point and spent the day with Emma's Grandma. I was able to get Emma into the pool this year, as you can see, and she loved it! She kept wanting me to take her to the deeper end of the pool, but I quickly realized that holding a toddler while swimming really isn't possible (at least not for me). So we stayed in the shallower end of the pool. I was pleasantly surprised to see that she was interested in the pool, because last year she wanted nothing to do with it. As you can see, she has grown quite a bit since her first swim on the Fourth in 2008!

We didn't stay for the fireworks, but had a great time nonetheless.

On Monday we went over to Kelley & Geronimo's house warming party and Emma and Diego played on the Slip & Slide. She didn't quite get the concept, but still enjoyed putting her bathing suit on again and playing in the water!
