February 22nd

We finally have our normal Emma back! She's was actually much better by last Monday when Shari took her in for her 18 month check up. We had to continue the breathing treatments for a few days last week and the amoxicillin through Thursday, and her cough persisted through the week, but by the end of the week she seemed to be completely back to normal.

She had a lot of fun this weekend, getting to go to her cousin Luke's basketball game on Saturday. Her grandma and uncle Paul came over to visit on Saturday afternoon, and then on Saturday night when mommy and daddy went out to dinner with some good friends, she got to stay with Grace, the lead teacher in her classroom at daycare. We are extremely lucky to have discovered that Grace babysits on the side. She spends most of the days during the week with Emma, so they know each other and get along really well.

One of Emma's favorite things over the past few weeks has been watching an Abby Cadabby (Sesame Street) DVD that I bought for her a few weeks ago. She'll say "Abby, Abby, Abby" and you know she wants to watch it. She's so cute when she sits on the sofa like a big girl and watches. She loves the parts where there is singing, although she won't sit and watch for more than a few minutes. She likes to get down and go walk around. Below are some pictures that I took on Saturday morning when she was watching Abby.

She is also talking quite a bit lately. Some of her many new words: cracker, apple, welcome (her response when you say thank you, and some times even when you don't), Abby, Elmo, stuck, back, up, hug, Grace, duck, bye-bye... And she loves to put things to "night-night", whether it be one of her babies or toys to her cup of milk. She puts the item down, then covers it up with anything from a towel to a pillow case and then pats it on the back and says "night-night". If it's a doll or stuffed animal, she puts it down on its stomach, just like she likes to sleep. It's so cute!

Finally, I took a few videos tonight while Emma was eating her dinner. As you can see, she's perfectly capable of feeding herself!
