February 12th

Emma has been really sick this week; something that we as parents never look forward to. She had a rough night on Friday, and woke up Saturday morning with a fever, no appetite and a lot of wheezing and coughing. Shari took her to Urgent Care to see a doctor, who said that she had "the virus that you get before pneumonia". He sent them home with some medicine for use with Emma's nebulizer, which turns the medication into a mist that is inhaled through a mask.

By Monday morning, she was still very sick, so Shari scheduled an appointment with her pediatrician. The appointment lasted almost 4 hours, and the doctor came very close to admitting Emma to the hospital. She had developed pneumonia, so Shari came home with even more medication, including a liquid steroid, and the dreaded Amoxicillin (I hate that stuff!).

To make a long story short, Emma is finally starting to improve, but Shari has had to stay home with her all week, giving her lots of medication, and had to take her back to the doctor for follow-up visits yesterday and today. Luckily she doesn't have to go back tomorrow, but the doctor's orders were to keep her home for the rest of the week. Thankfully Shari has an understanding employer; otherwise I'm not sure what we'd do!

Thanks to those of you who have kept Emma in your thoughts and prayers. It has been a rough week with some long nights (particularly for Shari, who has done an amazing job with Emma (but there's no surprise there)). But it looks like we may have our old Emma back soon!

Awwww...poor thing. I am so sorry to hear that she's been so sick. I know that just breaks your heart. I really hope she's better. I will certainly keep you all in my prayers. I hope Shari has gotten some sleep too.
