Hillingdon Ranch & Giles History

We are fortunate enough to have an important part of history in our family. During our trip to Austin, I wanted Emma and Shari to spend a few days at my family ranch, which has been in the family since 1887.

For more information about the Hillingdon Ranch, see the following link: http://www.giles1.com/giles1.com/Hillingdon.html

In order (top to bottom):

1. looking towards "The Big House", which is the main house on the ranch, built by Alfred Giles in 1887
2. close-up shot of The Big House
3. looking back towards the front yard of the main house area
4. Angus cattle in pasture (the ranch generates its income in part from Angus cattle)
5. a view down on The Big House and surrounding buildings, circa 1970s
6. the same view, circa 1890s
7. The Giles family and others on the steps of The Big House, circa 1890s
8. view of cows in pasture, circa 1890s
9. inside architectural offices of Alfred Giles (Emma's great-great-great grandfather)
10. offices of Alfred Giles, architect in Texas and Mexico
11. Ernest Palmer Giles (Emma's great-great grandfather, and where my middle name "Palmer" comes from)
12. Alfred Giles III and Alice Hanley Giles (Emma's great grandparents)
