February 10th

I finally dusted off my camera last weekend just in time for our trip to Big Bear and Emma's first experience with snow.  I have to admit I was a little nervous heading up there knowing that the police were scouring the area for a multiple murder suspect, but we decided to go anyway.  We had to pull off the road about an hour outside of Big Bear to put chains on the tires.  Thank goodness for Chris.  I don't think I could have put the chains on.  I thought everyone was being overly cautious, but as we headed up the mountain, the snow started falling very quickly and our visibility was definitely challenged.  It has been a long time since I've seen that much snow.

We rented a cabin for the weekend and it had the perfect small hill in the backyard for sledding.  We even found sleds in the side yard so we were all set!  It continued to snow throughout Friday and so we had plenty of fresh snow for the next couple of days.  I tried to build a snowman, but it proved to be quite a challenge.  Emma loved sledding down the hill and she was not happy when it was time to come in each day as it got dark.  I am clearly getting older as evidenced by the soreness I felt in my bones after sledding down the hill quite a few times.  Some days it is hard to keep up with a 5 year old.
