On Monday Emma started going to her new preschool, Pasadena Christian School. She is currently enrolled in their 8 week summer program and she will transition in the Fall to their junior kindergarten program. It was a hard decision to make, but we feel like this is the best path for her right now and I think the past couple of days have confirmed it. The summer program has a very small group of kids in it and so far it has been a great environment for Emma. She can be pretty easily overwhelmed, so I think this has been the right time for her to start in her new school since there are less kids there right now and she can have a chance to become accustomed to the new surroundings before the Fall program. The teachers seem great and Emma has already made a new little friend (Audrey). Our friends put their son in the same program and it has been fantastic for Emma to have a familiar face with her in the new school. Chris said when he took her there on Monday morning she was happy and once her friend Diego arrived she told Chris to leave :-) I'm so thankful that Diego is there with her.
On Monday I raced over after work and I was really anxious to see how she was doing. She was outside playing with the other kids and had a huge smile on her face. Her teacher said she had a good day which was great to hear. In the car I asked her what she learned in school. Emma thought about it for a while and then said "Jesus doesn't like it when you lie". Oh boy. She then showed me how to pray. Up until this point Emma has had very little, if any, exposure to religion which is one reason why we wanted her to go to this particular school. I picked up Emma yesterday and she said her second day was better than the first. In fact she told me she wasn't ready to leave yet and asked to play for a little longer. Her favorite part of the new school is the outside play area (it is really neat). So far I'm really hopeful that we have found another great environment for her.
Last night we headed to her favorite park. Emma can't get enough of parks lately :-)
