February 23rd

Today was a crazy day. Chris typically gets Emma ready in the morning and takes her to pre-school while I'm already at work. Since he is out of town, the task of getting a toddler ready and out the door has fallen to me. Normally I structure our time on the weekend with a lot of cushion because sometimes it takes us FOREVER to get anywhere on time. It feels like the stars have to align and the moon and sun have to be in the right place in order for Emma to get dressed, have her shoes on and be in her car seat ready to go. I had an early meeting with several surgeons and a couple of chiefs of anesthesia today, but that didn't seem to matter to my strong-willed toddler. I was trying to figure out how I could explain to them that my tardiness was due to a 3 year old who was refusing to put her pants on (she has to wear pants under her dress when it's cold outside). It was quite a morning.

My brother and his family took me out to dinner this evening for my birthday which was super sweet. My uncle Gym is in town and he came along too which was a treat. My aunt Sandy bought Emma an elaborate princess dress while we were at Disneyland last week. Emma modeled it for me this evening. I think she makes a pretty cute princess, even if she is quite willful at times :-)
