May 14th

The following is a conversation that I had last night with Emma Claire. It has not been edited in any way. Mother/Daughter relationships...this is going to be tough :-)

Me: Emma, say 'I'
Emma: 'I'
Me: Say 'love'
Emma: 'love'
Me: Say 'Mommy'!
Emma: 'Daddy'!

(insert giggling from Emma here)

Me: Ok, let's try again. Say 'I'
Emma: 'I'
Me: Say 'love'
Emma: 'love'
Me: Please say 'Mommy'!
Emma: 'me'!

(insert more giggling)

At this point I started to tell her the story of my labor and delivery in an effort to win over her affection given the pain I went through almost 2 years ago (it really wasn't that bad, but she doesn't need to know that). However, Lucy (our cat) walked downstairs and Emma's attention was then focused on trying to give Lucy a hug. You can imagine how Lucy felt about that idea :-)
